On 23 June, the Australian government introduced its National Strategy for Identity Resilience, presenting ten guiding principles for digital identity resilience, which may influence New Zealand's digital identity framework under the Digital Identity Services Trust Framework Act. The strategy promotes an integrated digital ID system across Commonwealth, state, and territory levels, advocating for inclusive identification and the conditional use of biometrics. Spearheaded by the Department of Home Affairs, the strategy outlines phased initiatives to bolster digital ID security, reflecting Australia's emphasis on identity, security, and privacy—an emphasis that aligns with New Zealand's priorities for secure online interactions.
